Best Airline Credit Cards Have Big Benefits

Many people believe that the key to finding the best airline credit cards is to look at the terms of the card that relate to adding up airline mileage points. That's true, to an extent. Good airline credit cards let you earn miles quickly on multiple airlines so that you can take advantage of the opportunity to get free flights. However, that's not the only thing that you should look at when trying to find the best airline credit card for you. There are additional benefits that are available on most cards which should be considered in addition to the travel points that can be earned.Looking at Travel PerksIt is true that you should first consider the travel details of any airline credit cards that you are considering using. After all, the whole point of having these cards is that you can earn money towards a free airline ticket. The best airline credit card in this sense is the one that is going to let you get that free ticket as early as possible. The key here is to look for those cards which let you cash in on rewards without requiring a high minimum point balance on the card. Another thing to look at when trying to find the best airline credit card is the airlines that the card will work with. There are many cards available today which work with multiple carriers but offer higher points on a specific airline. This is great because it lets you get the most for your money when traveling on your preferred airline but doesn't punish you for taking advantage of deals offered on other airlines.Considering the Additional PerksGetting the best airline credit card requires going above and beyond just looking at the travel benefits of the card, though. This is where almost everyone goes wrong. They figure that getting the best flight deal from the card is the entire point of having the card and neglect to consider the other benefits that a card might offer. For example, some of the best airline credit cards give you savings on business purchases or purchases made at the airport. This means that you save on things that have nothing specific to do with the flight while still earning points towards air travel. Additional perks to look for include cash back offers, miles earned on non-flight purchases, and low-interest offers for balance transfers.Remembering the TermsIn addition to looking for the best in benefits, anyone who is applying for airline credit cards should be thinking about the terms associated with the card. Consider whether there is going to be an annual fee. If so, is the cost worth what you're saving on future flights? Also consider things like the interest rate on the card and the penalties that are incurred for late payments. The best airline credit cards are those which don't just offer you great rewards but which also minimize the negative aspects of having a credit card by offering fair and reasonable terms.

Domestic Airlines

Domestic airlines are those that provide service between different cities in the same country. They are a great option for business travelers who are always on the move, people who don’t like driving for long distances, and just for people who simply want to get somewhere faster. Some of these airlines also ply international routes in addition to domestic routes. Some of these include Delta Airlines, American Airlines and Continental Airlines. You will find that they have partnerships with other international airlines. For example, an international carrier might have flights between Madrid and New York. But for those flying Madrid to Denver, the carriers’ partner for example Continental airlines will fly from New York to Denver. The kind of aircraft that the domestic airlines use varies from destination to destination. For example, thy might use the larger Boeing 747 for international flights or coast to coast flights, while from city to city, they use the more compact airbus planes. The kind of service provided on board depends on the length of the flight and on the airline. Some of them will charge for drinks and snacks while others will provide them for no added cost.Domestic lights usually have about five people seated per row, and this allows for ease of service. One of the advantages of domestic flights is that they generally have fewer passengers, and thus better service is provided to the passengers and boarding and disembarking times are reduced. This is great for the airlines, because they have a faster turn around time, in case they are turning around with passengers. It’s very easy to find a domestic flight. Most domestic airlines offer service many times a week between multiple cities.

Airline Credit Card Offers - Be Selective When Choosing

Airline credit cards are increasingly becoming popular. Airline companies and banks, in particular, often sponsor airline credit cards in order to provide incentives to attract consumer interest. But before choosing an airline credit card, you should collect as much information as possible about each airline card that you are considering.
If you are a business traveler or a frequent flyer, an airline credit card is definitely something to investigate. But you might be wondering how airline credit cards work. Quite simply, you earn reward points, or miles, for every dollar spent with the credit card. These points can earn you free flights, free companion tickets, lost baggage protection, first class upgrades, car rentals, free stays in hotels and more.
It was the Citi Aadvantage card that first offered the airline credit card. Consumers got points with every purchase they made. These points could be redeemed for free air travel through a variety of different airlines. Today, most airlines have partnerships with credit card companies in order to provide airline credit cards rewards programs, and the incentives offered by these companies is attractive thanks in part to the existing competition in this industry.
When compared to standard credit cards, airline credit cards charge a higher interest rate and, in many cases, also charge annual fees for membership. But when used effectively, there are several attractive features of airline credit cards that help to offset those added charges and fees.
There are two general types of airline credit cards:
1) Airline-Sponsored Credit Cards2) Bank-Sponsored Credit Cards
The points you earn from airline-sponsored credit cards can be used only on a particular airline. These cards are convenient, if you wish to fly on a particular airline or that airline dominates the routes to your potential destinations. Otherwise, it might be better to go with the many bank-sponsored airline credit cards now available.
Bank-sponsored credit cards are more flexible in nature. Unlike airline-sponsored credit cards that generally only allow you to redeem your points on one airline, you can use your points earned from the various bank-sponsored airline credit cards to redeem your miles on a wider selection of airlines. And typically, the points required to earn free travel is generally less with bank-sponsored credit cards. But there are exceptions to this rule.
Things to Keep in Mind
You should make it a point to thoroughly understand airline credit cards and how they work for you as well as how they work for the card companies before making a decision. You might want to peak with people who already have one like family or friends and solicit their feedback on the cards that they use. You can also utilize the Internet, which offers an unprecedented amount of information on a wide variety of credit cards and their features and benefits.
First of all, when selecting any credit card, you should start first with the applicable interest rate of each card. Is the interest rate comparable to other card offers currently available or does it appear to be abnormally high? If you plan to carry a balance on your credit card, you need to be absolutely sure that you select an airline credit card with the lowest ongoing interest rate available. In general, airline cards are not the right choice for those who carry a balance on their credit cards because of the generally higher costs associated with airline cards. Higher interest rates combined with high card balances never go hand in hand.
Some airline credit cards offer points but only on certain purchases. Keep these reward schemes in mind while choosing a card because the card will be essentially worthless if you are not able to make the type of purchases allowed on the card.
Another important item to consider is the expiration date on points that you earn. Also, find out if your points can be used even after the redemption period has expired. Certain cards will stipulate specific uses for point redemption at certain retailers after the expiration date.
And finally, the number of reward points earned per dollar spent varies from card to card. The number of points necessary to earn free or reduced travel will vary from card to card as well, so make sure to carefully weigh those factors when selecting an airline credit card as well.

Airlines Continue to Spread Wings Over Mexico

Airlines are responding to increasing U.S. and Canadian demand for service to Mexico by widening service options to the country’s many destinations. With greater air access, the airlines contribute to boosting international tourist arrivals. During the past six months, a mix of major airlines and low-cost carriers in the United States and Canada have enhanced service schedules to different parts of Mexico through additional frequencies of existing routes and the launch of new services.“That airlines across the board are increasing flight options to Mexico demonstrates the high degree of confidence the travel industry has in our country, and the interest travelers have in discovering Mexico for themselves. Mexicans are known around the world for their warmth and hospitality, and North American travelers will be welcomed with open arms,” said Magdalena Carral, CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board.Expansion of air transportation inbound to Mexico is aligned with the goal of the Mexican government’s comprehensive, long-term tourism plan to increase the number of international visitors. With 21.9 million visitors in 2005, the country is ranked seventh as an international tourism destination according to World Tourism Organization figures released in June.Among the airlines increasing flights is Delta Air Lines. In recent months, the Atlanta-based carrier initiated new non-stop service to Mexico destinations such as Acapulco, Merida, and Ixtapa from Atlanta; Mazatlan from Salt Lake City; and Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. Frontier Airlines another carrier on the forefront to expand service to Mexico, has announced plans to launch round-trip service between Denver and Guadalajara. The service will mark the eighth Mexican city to be served by Frontier. The four weekly flights to Guadalajara, slated to begin Dec. 22, are part of Denver-based Frontier’s plans to increase its Mexican service by 30 percent during the peak winter holiday season; Frontier will add flight frequencies from Denver to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. Frontier announced that it will begin new, non-stop service between San Diego and Cancun with one flight weekly starting Dec. 16. Adding three new Mexico routes this year, United Airlines’ most recent launch was in July connecting Chicago and Cancun. The carrier had initiated its Los Angeles-Cancun and Chicago’s-Puerto Vallarta routes in March. Together, United serves 16 routes between the United States and Mexico excluding two seasonal routes, Denver-Mexico City and Denver-Ixtapa, which run during the winter months. The new flights to Mexico are offered via the United and the airline’s low-cost counterpart, Ted.Seasonal flight services to be added during the winter months will include American Airlines’ announced plans to start one round-trip, non-stop service weekly from JFK to Mexico’s San Jose del Cabo in the Baja California region, effective Dec. 16 through April 9, 2007. The legacy airline, which has been operating flights to the Mexico market since 1941, currently serves San Jose del Cabo with three flights daily from Dallas/Fort Worth, two daily from Los Angeles, and three weekly flights from Chicago. Other flight additions to existing routes include service by Alaska Airlines, which will lengthen its list of services to Mexico resort cities this fall with six more weekly flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco, thus increasing its Mexico capacity by 22 percent. The carrier also plans to inaugurate non-stop services between Los Angeles and La Paz, San Francisco and CancĂșn, and Seattle and CancĂșn, as well as between Portland, Oregon to both Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta.Northwest Airlines’ announcement of additional weekday frequencies during the winter travel season between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Mexico cities Acapulco, Manzanillo and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo. The airline, subject to government approval, will also include service from Detroit to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo that will operate from Jan. 20 through March 31, 2007, as well as a new service between Memphis and Cozumel to operate on Saturdays from Feb. 17 through April 14, 2007.Although Continental Airlines has not added new services in recent months, the airline is a strong player in the market currently operating more than 580 flights weekly to 30 Mexican destinations from Texas airports in Laredo, McCallen and Houston, as well as from Newark’s Liberty International Airport and Los Angeles. Continental did however, announce with Alitalia codeshare expansion already in place to provide improved transfer services between Italy, Canada and Mexico. Canadian airlines are also hovering over Mexico skies. Air Canada will add 25 more non-stop flights per week this winter between Canada and Mexico for a total of 61 weekly. The new routes to Mexico include service between Toronto to Cozumel and Ixtapa, slated to begin mid-December, as well as a Montreal-Mexico City service introduced on June 17. Sunwing Airlines’ announced plans to begin this fall to operate one flight each between Montreal and Ottawa to Acapulco on Wednesdays and to Cancun on Fridays. Earlier this year, Sunwing started service between Toronto and Cozumel and the airline will operate a Sudbury and Cancun route for the winter season from December through March 2007. For the winter season, Sunquest Airlines will also begin services from Hamilton to Cancun and Riviera Maya starting in December. Mexican airlines also expand services The increased number of expanded routes, however, has not been limited to international services. Mexican airlines, particularly the low-cost carriers, are also boosting services. Private and semi-private airlines such as Avolar, ABC Interjet and Volaris, as well as Mexicana Airline’s carrier Click Mexicana have launched low-cost flights to different parts of Mexico. Aladia, one of Mexico’s newest airlines, is slated to launch this summer. Mexico’s domestic service currently caters to approximately 2.5 million passengers, representing some 6.5 percent of Mexican tourists who travel via air within the country. Flying beyond Mexico borders, Mexican airlines Aeromexico and Mexicana operate daily routes between JFK airport and Mexico City. Mexicana will also operate a route between Baltimore, Maryland and its low-fare carrier Click Mexicana will launch a Cancun-Miami flight later this summer. Avolar also plans to serve a select few of U.S. cities later this year. Within Mexico, Aeromexico is increasing flight offerings with new routes between Mexico City and Villahermosa, Merida and Cancun.

Airline Credit Card - Who Needs Them?

An airline credit card is one which rewards purchases with air travel miles or points which can be redeemed for them. Airline credit cards ideally fit a certain user profile. Typically users of airline cards are financially well off and travel frequently. But who else needs them?
Ideal Airline Credit Card User Checklist
Before deciding to go for an airline credit card you should check your credit history. If it is perfect or almost perfect, you can check off one of the requirements of the ideal airline credit card user checklist. If you pay your credit card debt on time, you fulfill the second requirement of the checklist. It is also important that your debts on other credit cards and other bills are paid one time. You are a big spender, and spend it through your airline card. Most importantly, the travel miles are useful or important to you.
Reasons for the Airline Card Checklist
Airline cards usually charge higher interest than ordinary cards. If you are not timely in your credit payments, you incur a lot of interest. Also if you do not have excellent credit ratings, you fall into a higher interest bracket and do not qualify for the lower APR credit cards. This makes airline cards very expensive to own. It is also important to pay other debts regularly, since the rules link you credit ratings across debts. What this means is, if you have a bad credit rating in relation to another credit card you own, it affects your credit rating in the airline credit card and you may have to pay a higher rate of interest.
If you are not a big spender and do not spend much through your airline card you will not earn enough miles to travel by air for a long time. If travel isn't interesting to you or is not incidental to your line of work, you may be better off looking for a low APR credit card.
If you do purchase an airline credit card, make the most of it, by using it whenever you shop. Also use your airline miles at the first chance you get. It is better to use your airline miles for long flights to make the most of them. Airline cards are used best when they are redeemed for airline miles. It is generally not worth it to redeem your airline card on other products.
Airline cards vary greatly in terms of their bundle of offerings. There are different APR's and differing credit requirements (but you must have good credit). Also some airline credit cards offer bonus air miles. Different annual fees are charged. Bank sponsored airline cards allow you to redeem your air miles through a number of airlines. With airline sponsored cards you have to patronize the issuing airline. An informed purchase of your airline credit card can lead to smart savings for some, and free holidays for others. Remember to combine the informed purchase with smart usage of your airline card. If you can choose and use your airline credit card wisely, the only negative effect you can expect is jet lag.

A Low Cost Airline to Render You The Best In Budget Travel

Budget Airlines, also known as low cost airlines, discount carries, or no frill airlines, have revolutionized the way the people travel. With the introduction of the budget airlines, even a common man can now dream of air travels, which was once just confined to upper class people as well as business executives.A budget airline is simply a category of airlines that render low fare services via cutting off majority of traditional passenger services. In other words, budget airlines are flight carriers that provide services at exceptionally low rates. Sometimes, budget airlines could even fetch you more than 50% discount. The concept of budget airlines was first introduced in the United States. During the 1990s, it spread to Europe, and later gradually to Asian destinations. Now this concept has become popular across the world.Today, many of the reputable airlines in the scenario provide low cost airline services and that too without sacrificing the quality of services. Budget airlines generally make available low fare services through adopting certain practices, such as, providing food options to be paid separately rather than providing it as an all inclusive service and by providing seating on the basis of 'first come, first fill,' ie, in the case of budget airlines, the plane is boarded just as a bus and as such, seats would be occupied by those who would come first. In fact, budget airlines have now become one of the smartest ways to travel. Some of the salient features of budget airlines are single traveler class, single category of airplane that reduces training as well as servicing expenses, easy fare scheme, unreserved seating systems, early flights in order to eliminate delays in air traffic, short flights, ticket sales via the internet, thereby enabling passengers to save money in the form of commissions and fees paid to travel agents, issuance of tickets in electronic format, absence of services such as in flight catering services as well as other complimentary services. In the case of budget airlines, the pricing of air fares is based on the duration of time between booking and departure. The earlier you make bookings for airfare, much cheaper would be the airfare. Similarly, in order to fill the unsold seat in the plane, some airlines would slash the price prior to a few days before its departure.A specialty of most of the budget airlines is that they cater to almost all types of travelers. For instance, some airlines operate budget flights according to the convenience of the business travelers. There are certain airlines providing incredible deals on air fares for students as well as leisurely travelers. In most cases, budget airline fares are flexible, al though, in some instances, these airlines may charge a nominal fee to make changes in flight reservations. A budget airline provides almost the same superb services that a standard airline offers, such as excellent dining options, superb entertainment facilities, and comfortable as well as soft cabins. Additionally, some of the budget airlines render special services for passengers such as elderly travelers, children traveling alone or not accompanied by their parents, pregnant as well as passengers flying with infants, and passengers who have visual, speech, or hearing imparity. With the introduction of the internet, it has become quite easy to find a budget airline. Many of the airlines have their own websites with facilities for online ticket booking. This in turn is very convenient. It is not only beneficial for hassle-free bookings but also enable you to know whether they provide any kind of discount or deals for traveling within a stipulated period or during a particular season such as Christmas or New Year. All you have to do is to just log into their website and inform them regarding the destination you are going to travel and date of departure. All of the rest they will take care. In addition, airfare bookings online is economical, as it enables you to save pennies on issuing tickets. The airlines, in most cases, sent confirmation through a simple document containing flight details as well as booking reference. When you make payments and bookings online, it allows you to easily take a print out of this document as soon as the booking process is completed. In short, with just a click of a mouse you can make bookings for a comfortable air journey.

US Airlines

The United States boasts a big number of airlines that double as domestic and international airlines. These US airlines boast big fleets or aircraft from those that sit more than two hundred passengers to little aircraft that sit less than twenty people. These airlines offer flights between some of the busiest airports in the world and some of the most remote places, or some of the smallest airports in the United States. These airlines also range from discount airlines to private charter companies that cater to the rich and famous. Some of these airlines are TWA, Southwest, Northwest, Delta, Alaska airlines just to mention a few. Many of these airlines have partnered with major international carriers to provide cheaper options for travelers, and also more travel destinations for the travelers to choose from. These airlines have also partnered with hotel chains and car rental companies to provide subsidized travel packages to travelers. These US airlines are also partnering up with credit card companies. So for example if you have a Delta Airlines credit card, you can use it, and every time you use it, you accumulate points that you can redeem for a plane ticket or even for a stay in a hotel. Many airlines also offer reward schemes commonly known as frequent flier miles. Those people who accumulate thousands of these miles from both domestic and international travel get perks such as priority check in, VIP treatment or even the choice to upgrade from coach to first class. From this you can see that US airlines are encouraging more and more people to fly, with the perks offered and also the reasonable ticket prices that they offer.

The Best Time To Get Discounted Air Line Tickets And Hotels To Mauritius.

I've been to Mauritius to escape the English winter, this was some years ago, when there were winters. We went in March, and spent a fortune. One of my female employees went to Cyprus at the same time. She came home with an incredible tan, and we didn't because there was little sun in Mauritius, because we were in the area of influence of a tropical depression which sat offshore during our entire stay!!

It was a steep learning curve, because we assumed the best time to go to Mauritius was in our European winter, and now I know this to be wrong. The weather in Mauritius in January February or March, can be beautiful, but now I know that there is a serious risk of tropical cyclones, and you can have ten days of foul weather!!

The other months to avoid are July and August, because again the weather is often very unreliable. Many people don't realise that Mauritius being south of the equator , means that August is the middle of the winter, so temperatures can be lower than at home in the UK. I feel for many honeymoon couples who have booked one of the many delux hotels in Mauritius, only to discover it isn't blue sky and tropical temperatures.

If you want discount air fares to Mauritius, and steeply discounted hotel deals, then you need to look outside of the time of year discussed so far, that is quite obvious. The best months to go are April, May, October, and November.

Out of all of these months, May stands out as the best month, when the weather is not so wet and unpredictable, yet it is still warm enough at 29 degrees centigrade. Most importantly that is the month of the big tempting discounts from discounted air line tickets to amazing hotel deals.

Choose May to take a vacation in Mauritius and save money!!

Airline Food Gets Worse While Ticket Prices Soar

As airlines continue to cut costs, they also continue to raise ticket prices and add fees and surcharges in an attempt to offset the rising fuel costs. Average tickets prices are up 16 percent from last year. Many consumers feel that the cost cuts are unfair, and have decided not to travel this year. The recent trend of increasing fuel cost has resulted in a stricter approach to the airline companies cost control management. Some cost cutting policies have proven effective while maintaining quality customer service ratings. Other policies have fell short in service ratings, and some have led to the questioning of safety practices.

In the early ninety’s, airlines adopted the philosophy of “more is better”. Increased flights coupled with more destinations, was management’s approach to increasing the consumers desire to fly. However, this was a time when an airline could effectively advertise their services as being “less expensive than driving a vehicle”. Airline managements’ failure to prepare for the future has introduced a new airline philosophy, “less is more”.

Nearly every major airline company in the world has been forced to cut costs over the last couple of years. Some companies have showed excellent intuitiveness in their approach to cutting costs. Creative ideas have led to cost savings while not compromising the quality of flight service. Other companies have taken a more direct approach to cutting costs, eliminating freebies and lowering the quality of “on flight” meals and services. A decrease in service quality and the luxuries that we have become accustomed to us, has resulted to fewer sales and diminishing consumer loyalty.

Air Canada has led the way in creatively cutting costs in order to make their rates affordable for consumers. In the beginning of the year, they decided that they stripped the paint and primer off of their 767 jets in an attempt to reduce weight. Understandably this may seem like an extreme attempt to save a couple of extra pounds. However, Canada Air released a statement that this plan will reduce the plane’s individual weight by as much as 360 pounds, resulting in easier takeoffs and annual savings of nearly $25,000 per plane.

American carriers like Delta, Northwest, American, and Continental spent significantly less money on food than they have in previous years. Amazingly, the quality of airline food is getting worse. In the ninety’s, the average cost to provide a passenger with a meal was $6.00. Now, airlines have cut cost to about $3.50 per meal. American carriers have eliminated all free snacks including peanuts, pretzels, and soda. With an average of 60 million domestic flights per month, airlines are saving more than just peanuts. Hopefully these savings will result in lower fares and not just higher airline revenue. American Airlines has stated that it would save $30 million annually by eliminating free snacks on flights. US airways claims that they will save $1 million annually just by eliminating the free pretzel packets.

Many rumors have surfaced that airline companies have been cutting costs in divisions that may compromise the passenger’s safety. American Airlines has been scrutinized for ineffectively providing proper inspections on their aircraft. In recent weeks, pilots have begun complaining about unsafe fueling practices. They have stated that major carriers have become so desperate to cut costs that they are forcing them to fly with an uncomfortably low level of fuel.

Most of America’s largest airline carriers have released information showing significant losses in their most recent quarterly statements. United Airways has declared a net loss of $2.7 billion dollars. They have decided to decrease their flight schedule by nearly 17 percent in the fourth quarter. United is planning on eliminating it’s entire fleet of 737’s. This will result in a loss of nearly 7,00 jobs

Airlines Credit Card - How To Find the Best Available

Just because one of your friends says they have the best airlines card does not mean it will be the best one for you. In order to find the best available, there are a few things you must look at before deciding which airlines credit card is the one that fits you perfectly. You will need to not only look at the airline cards and what they have to offer but also at your spending habits and traveling habits.

First look at the applicable interest rates of the airlines credit card that you you wish to apply for. Most airline cards have higher interest rates than ones without any type of rewards program. If you normally carry a balance on your card from one billing cycle to another, then airline cards may not be the right answer for you. If you still wish to reap the benefits offered by airline cards, then you should be sure to choose one with the lowest interest rates.

Some airline cards offer you points for every dollar spent while others only give you points if you purchase at certain stores or make certain purchases. If you only get points for shopping at certain stores and they are not ones you normally use, then the card will be worthless to you. The same goes for which airline you normally use. Some airline cards are only for one airline, if you do not use that airline or seldom use it, then you will not be accumulating points that you can redeem and use.

There are also restrictions placed on airline cards, such as how many points you can receive in a year and many have expiration dates on the points earned. You could be saving up thousands of points and they may expire before you ever get to use them.

Now look at your overall purchases in one year that you place on your credit card. If you normally only spend $15,000 with your credit card but you need to spend $20,000 to receive a free trip with your earned points then the airline card will not be the one for you, unless you wish to spend thousands more to reap the rewards. Remember, bundled into paying off your debt you will also be paying higher finance charges and annual fees and you may never get that free trip.

If you travel quite a bit then airline cards are well worth your time to check into, however if you only travel a couple of times per year it may not be worth the higher interest rates, higher finance charges and annual fees that come along with an airlines credit card. Some companies offer extra incentives such as a free companion ticket, but if you normally travel by yourself then this offer is one you will not need.

You will find than an airlines credit card in some cases will offer you an upgrade if you travel a lot giving you the luxury of first class, but you may find out that you will receive more points with an airlines credit card that does not give upgrades.

How To Find Low Cost Airlines Around The World

In recent years there has been a dramatic increase in the number of low cost airlines. With Southwest Airlines leading the way, new entrants RyanAir and EasyJet quickly attracted mainstream travelers in Europe and brought low cost airlines out of the shadows. The European low fare airlines have become so popular in fact that airline rates are often substantially lower than train tickets for travel between European capitals. In the US, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airways, Air Tran, Jet Blue and now Virgin America have all made a name for themselves as low fare carriers. Recently there has also been low fare expansion with routes between major US gateways and cities in Europe. Eurofly Airlines for instance flies popular routes between the United States and Italy at about half the fare as the legacy carriers.

But here's where it gets tricky. There are fees involved to have tickets distributed through online booking sites like Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, Kayak, etc. Many low fare airlines refuse to pay those fees and all tickets must be purchased directly through their site. This makes it very difficult to comparison shop or even find the right low cost airline for the route you'll be traveling. Luckily, a new breed of airline search engines have popped onto the marketplace to address just this need. Each of these sites scan both major legacy airlines AND low cost airlines to deliver the lowest airfare back to you. Have a look:

Airline Reservations

Upon making a decision that you want to take a holiday, more often than not, the next question asked is where we want to go. Do we want to leave the country for an international vacation or do we want to keep it domestic? Once we decide on where we are going, and agree that we are going to fly there, the next step is to decide on a date of travel and then see if it’s possible.

To make Airline reservations, you need to have made up your mind on those few things mentioned, like where do you want to go? How much money do you have to spend? How long do you want to be away? How many people are there in your party? When all these questions are answered confidently, then you are ready to make your airline reservations. You can now start looking for an airline that will work for you, and your plans.

If going for a short holiday you may want to make airline reservations on a direct flight. This will ensure that you spend maximum time at your destination, and not in airports waiting for connecting flights. Make sure that you have set time aside to leave later, for example an extra vacation day. This is in case your flight reservations are cancelled or modified by the airline. Always make sure that you find out what the airline policies are on missed or cancelled flight before you make any reservations or payments.

Always make sure that the day before your trip you are ready to go and have double checked your reservations. This will ensure that you get to the airport well before your flight time, and you can check in and even request seat changes or upgrades.

Airline Passenger Complaints

Airline passenger complaints – More and More people are suing Airlines these days... It’s EASY!!!
Flying as an airline passenger is an often memorable experience, but there are times where the experience is memorable for all the wrong reasons: mechanical problems, poor service, bad food, lost luggage, or any of a number of other problems that result in a significant inconvenience or financial loss for the passenger. If you experience this kind of problem with your airline, you may want to deal with it by lodging a complaint with the airline or to one of the authorities that oversee air transportation
Know the Rules: when you purchase a ticket, you and the airline have entered into a contract that covers many different situations that you may face during a flight. Each airline has a specific set of guidelines that are used for situations such as flight delays, overbooking’s, and lost or damaged luggage.
Understand Why You Are Complaining: After you have decided to gather information about your situation, but before you make that phone call or write that letter, you should take a bit of time and get to know a few basic things about your particular circumstances.
Why you are complaining.
What situation caused you to complain and what people or organizations played a role in that situation.
What are the things that you want to happen that will address the complaint
What should you reasonably expect as an outcome
Airline passenger complaints Basics: Taking the time to assess your situation at the beginning will make the rest of the complaint process as smooth as possible.
That complaint process can be roughly broken down into the following sets of tasks: - writing down the facts of the situation,
- understanding whether you have a reason to expect a response or compensation as a result of your complaint, and filing the complaint in the places where it can do the most good.
Complaining Proces
When passengers comment on airline service, most airlines do listen. They analyze and keep track of the complaints and compliments they receive and use the information to determine what the public wants and to identify problem areas that need special attention.
They also try to resolve individual complaints. Like other businesses, airlines have a lot of discretion in how they respond to problems. While you do have some rights as a passenger, your demands for compensation will probably be subject to negotiation and the kind of action you get depends in large part on the way you go about complaining. Start with the airline. Before you call or write to DOT or some other agency for help with an air travel problem, you should give the airline a chance to resolve it. As a rule, airlines have trouble-shooters at the airports (they're usually called Customer Service Representatives) who can take care of many problems on the spot. They can arrange meals and hotel rooms for stranded passengers write checks for denied boarding compensation, arrange luggage repairs and settle other routine claims or complaints.
If you can't resolve the problem at the airport and want to file a complaint, it's best to call or write the airline's consumer office at its corporate headquarters.

Five Ways to Reduce the Cost of Your Airline Ticket

Availability of a vast array of airline ticket prices is one that is perplexing to most airline travelers. Only a handful of people who control the complex formulas that go into the science and art of Revenue Management inside the caverns of today’s airlines understand it. To both the seasoned and occasional traveler alike, getting the best value in an airfare is the elusive dream that is difficult to consistently achieve.
However, there are some time proven axioms that one can follow to put the odds on your side in helping you to reduce the cost of your air travel:
#1 Change the Time You Travel
Don’t be rigid on the time of day you want to travel. Going between New York and Los Angeles, for example, may have one airline offering as many as seven or eight flights on a particular day. If you want to leave in the morning, investigate the three or four departures offered during that time period. Moving your departure time by just one hour, on your departure or return, may save you a significant portion of the ticket price.
#2 Change the Day You Travel
Even if you require traveling on a particular airline or time of day, look at moving your desired departure or return day by one or two days. It is often the case that a particular flight may be cheaper on a Tuesday than a Wednesday, or a Saturday instead of a Sunday. The side benefit of this might be a free one-day “vacation” as the savings in airfare can more than offset the additional cost of a hotel room and meals.
#3 Change the Route You Travel
Yes, we all like to travel directly from where we are to our destination as quickly as possible and without changing planes. But how much is this worth to you? Airlines often make connecting flights from your origin to destination less expensive than their non-stop flights. It may add a couple of hours to travel time but it may be worth the hundreds of dollars you might be saving. Airline websites, unfortunately, are designed to show you the most direct and shortest time between the cities you request. If they have an option to “search by fare” use that option with maximum number of results possible and drill down deep in the results to make sure you see all the fares available.
#4 Change the Airline You Use to Travel
Competition is a wonderful thing! Many routes are highly competitive and it can force an airline with traditional dominance in a market to drop its airfares, sometimes dramatically, in response to a new competitor or fare sale from other competing airlines. Often times these “sales” will happen on a moment’s notice and may only last for a few days. If you have a favorite airline you wish to use, subscribe to their email alerts for your favorite cities so you can be kept up to date on any fare changes. But, don’t limit yourself to just one airline. Do it for all the airlines in your market.
#5 First Class Cheaper Than Coach?
No discussion of airfares would be complete without talking about the new currency for airfares: the frequent flyer mile. More and more of us are accumulating these frequent flyer miles that pay for airline tickets. Our first inclination when trying to redeem these miles is to seek out a coach seat using the lowest amount of miles, typically around 25,000 miles. However, it is usually the case that the airline does not have any seats at the lowest mileage redemption level when you would like to travel but may have them if you use twice the miles. Before giving in to this requirement, ask about business or first class awards. You may be surprised how many times discounted business or first class awards may be available to and from your destination for the same or less or slightly more miles than for double mileage coach awards. The extra comfort and perks are the icing on the cake!
Be flexible, keep current on airfares, explore all your routing options and look at all the ways frequent flyer miles can be redeemed.

Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines is a domestic American carrier whose hub of operations is located in Denver, Colorado. This is an airline that has for many years provided travelers with a great and affordable option for air travel. Operations of this airline are reserved for flights west of the Mississippi. This means that it serves destinations in the southwest, northwest and west coast of the United States. Some of the cities serves are Seattle, Washington, Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas Nevada just to mention a few. As a result of this, you find that travelers have an option of multiple flights to pick from when they are traveling. The numbers of flights available, makes last minute travel, and generally travel between these connected cities much cheaper for the consumers. In addition to the domestic routes offered, Frontier Airlines also offers short haul international flights to some holiday destinations in Mexico such as Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco and Cancun. This airline also offers great in flight entertainment to travelers. Their aircraft have a link to live satellite television, and for this, passengers have to pay a low cost of five dollars if they want to watch. They offer snacks and drinks on board with an option to buy alcoholic drinks for just about five dollars also. The Frontier airlines have a website where travelers can make arrangements to travel. They can book their tickets, as well as see packages available for the destinations they are traveling to. Their website also has a section where customers can leave positive or negative reviews, suggestions and ideas. The airline works on these reviews in a bid to make their airline the best there is.

Discount Airlines

Discount airlines can be described as low cost carriers, low budget carriers that have no frills. These airlines will many a time provide service between cities in the same country or region, or between neighboring countries. The aircraft that are used are smaller than those used for long haul flights. They use for example large jets or the airbus A320. An example of one of these airlines is Frontier Airlines, which flies to domestic destinations in the U.S as well as to some cities in Mexico and Canada.By no frills, we mean that these airlines, might offer extra services on board at an extra cost. For example, you might pay a little extra to seat in your seat of choice, or you will find that is not an option, because it is open sitting for all passengers. You might have to buy your food, or bring it on board, or pay to rent earphones for the duration of the flight. You will find that these airlines operate many short haul flights, and so in a day may have up to ten flights between two cities. This makes it easy for you to just drive to the airport, buy a ticket and hop on a flight. For example flights between San Diego and Las Vegas.Something else to note about discount airlines is that they are popular with business travelers who just want to jump on a flight, with no fuss, get to their destination, get their work done and get back home in the evening.

More Families Sue Airlines

More families are getting serious in suing the airlines these days. The first and the foremost that the family does to sue an airline, is to educate itself on how to sue an airline. Suing an airline can be intimidating; however if done right with the legal information at hand then the case can be in your favor.
More families who pursued suing an airline considered the following factors when filing. Prior to pursuing action in small claims court for suing an airline, they determined the following:
Is the amount of the claim smaller than the state or local law monetary limit?
Does the airline do business in the court in which you are filing?
Does the airline have a contract of carriage which must be followed?
Has the airline been given the opportunity to follow any of its obligations?
Can the dispute be settled out of court?
Is it a hardship for you to appear in court?
More families who are suing an airline are very much aware of their rights. These are some of the cases where families are involved in suing the airline.
· A husband and wife sued United Airlines for "negligently" over serving alcohol during a flight from Osaka, Japan, to San Francisco, saying the carrier's drinks fueled the domestic violence involving the two shortly after their plane landed.
· Dozens of outraged airplane passengers have threatened to sue Continental Airlines, claiming they were left stranded on a plane and grounded for hours in hellish conditions.
· A couple has also sued US Airways, alleging the husband was falsely arrested and the wife suffered a miscarriage after a dispute with a flight attendant on a trip from Detroit to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
· The families of five disabled passengers have sued North West airlines in a federal lawsuit alleging that the company routinely violates the rights of people who use wheelchairs.
Air travel is tiring enough without being used and abused by the airlines. If you suffered an indignity at the hands of an airline don't get mad or feel helpless, send a clear message this behavior will not be tolerated or else you will be suing the airline.
Take your beef to Small Claims Court. With minimal cost, whether successful or not, you will come out a winner. Typically an airline will hire attorneys to prepare the case with costs exceeding $1,000 per claim in legal fees. While litigation should never be your first option, if you believe you have a legitimate claim, it is a viable avenue when all other options fail. Even if you lose the battle you can still win the war by making your point to the airline
This best selling book will teach you how to sue an airline, get legally compensated and show that you will not tolerate airline abuse. This 50 page comprehensive step by step book that will guide you in properly filing an airline complaint and receiving the compensation you deserve because of being mistreated by the rude, irresponsible, ignorant and careless behavior of airline staff.

Choosing an Airline Card

You may be wondering which airline card you should choose and how you should go about making this decision. The decision is quite simple and can be chosen by answering three simple questions. Which airline do you use the most? How often do you fly? Are the benefits worth the fees they charge?
If you mainly use one airline when you travel, you should first check with them and see if they have their own airline card. Some airlines do not offer their own card; however, they have joined with other lending companies to offer their own special card. Therefore, more than likely your favorite airline will have an airline card available.
Maybe you do not pay much attention to the airline that takes you where you wish to go. You look more at the cost of the flights, the schedule and any deals you can find. If this is you, then you may be searching for an airline card with more lenience. You should be able to find an Airlines Credit Card that is offered with several airlines instead of just one.
Why are you wishing to check into airline cards? If you fly quite often then you will be glad to know you can find some great offers and benefits, however, if you only travel once a year or once every couple of years, an airline card is probably not your best bet.
Just about every airline card works on the point system. After you fly a certain amount of miles, you can receive a free or reduced flight. Remember, most of the time the points that you accumulate on your airline card expire. Therefore, if you do not fly very often you will be losing your points instead of benefiting from the rewards.
If you do fly often, an airline card can give you plenty of benefits especially if you have an Airlines credit card that does not put a cap on the points that you can earn every year. Also, be sure to see if the airline card has what they call "black out dates". If so, you will not be able to use your free or reduced flight points during these dates.
All airline cards have fees, just like any other credit card. You must now compare the benefits to the fees and see if the airline card is really worth the costs of the fees. Most airline cards have higher interest rates. You should see just how much you are going to receive in free travel, how much your will be paying in interest fees, to decide if you are really benefiting with the airline card.
Paying off your balance in a timely manner is another thing you should look at with every airline card. If you do not pay off your balance at the end of each billing cycle, you will find yourself paying quite a bit in finance charges. If you know you will be able to pay off your balance then an airline card could be a great idea for you to save money and possibly receive some free travel time in the process.

Airlines perk up on reports of govt aid

Bolstered by a media report that two of China's leading airliners will get a cash injection from the central government, airline shares posted a sharp rally yesterday, with Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, and Hainan Airlines all hitting their upper trading limits of 10 percent on the Shanghai Composite Index.
Shanghai Securities News reported on Sunday that China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines would each get up to 3 billion yuan ($439 million) from State coffers to help them cope with soaring operating costs and lagging market demand. "The aid will first go to the parent companies of the two listed airliners, and then the cash will be channeled to them through additional share issues or beyond," a source was quoted by the newspaper as saying. Lu Zhuping, board secretary of China Eastern Airlines, yesterday was cited by Dow Jones as saying that the company had applied for financial aid from the government, but declined to give details about the size of the aid package. This year, the domestic aviation industry hit a rough patch as the jet fuel price remained high and consumer confidence weakened. In the third quarter of this year, China Eastern Airlines posted a loss of 2.334 billion yuan, while China Southern Airlines lost 810 million yuan. By the end of the third quarter, China Eastern Airlines' total debt amounted to 74.33 billion yuan, in a stark contrast to its assets of 1.14 billion yuan. The government aid could temporarily bolster investor confidence and ease the two airlines' financial woes, analysts said. But airlines still have to cope with a long industry-wide downturn with many businesses cutting travel budgets amid the global financial crisis, they said. Xia Fulu, an analyst with Industrial Securities, said the rate of seat occupancy has declined 1 to 2 percentage points from a year ago in China's airline industry, adding that "a single percentage point can be translated into a loss of several billion yuan". The analyst also blamed the industry downturn on the slowing appreciation of the renminbi in recent months. "Airlines universally have a high debt rate. The appreciation of renminbi will ease their capital flow because they buy airplanes in US dollars," said Xia. Without the renminbi's appreciation, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines might have already posted losses last year, the analyst added.

Best Deals from Airline Credit Cards

Airline credit cards, primarily aimed at a travelers' convenience, are the result of collaboration between credit card companies and different airline companies. These are very popular reward cards and are a step further to frequent flyer cards. Frequent flyer cards can be airline sponsored or bank sponsored. Bank sponsored credit cards allow more flexibility, as the miles earned can be used on many airlines unlike airline-sponsored, which focuses on single airline. Apart from numerous incentives, transactions on airline credit card can add substantial savings for the cardholder.
Generally, for every dollar charged on the card, you earn one "point" which is equivalent to a travel mile. In addition, these cards can be used with a wide range of services like hotels, car rentals, car wash, and shopping malls. Purchases made and hence the accumulated points (once they reach the required level) can be redeemed for free travel miles for the next trip.
Who Should Go For An Airline Credit Card? Airline credit cards are wise economic decisions only for those who: * Have a good or excellent credit history * Do not carry balance , in other words pay your monthly bill without any dues and on time * Charge a lot to the card and use it for everthing * Are flexible when it comes to redeeming the accumulated miles
Choosing the Right Airline Credit Card A good airline credit card with wide compatibility functions helps to consolidate the benefits of 2 to 3 credit cards into one. The system of operation for these cards is no different from the normal credit cards. Some points to ponder in choosing the right card are:
*Interest rates: Most of these cards have a high Annual Percentage Rate (APR). Typically, they tend to be 5-6% higher than the normal cards.
*Annual fees: The annual fee for these cards is a main concern for the cardholders. In many cases, the annual fee paid is not relative to the rewards received. It is better to compare the fee for a number of cards, narrow the choices to the ones with moderate fees, and compare the rewards given on these cards to make the final decision.
*Redemption criteria: The redemption criterion is a key factor in determining the right card. You should consider the blackout dates that are applicable for redeeming the frequent flyer miles. There could be an upper limit on the number of miles that can be accumulated and their validity. Some cards will let you convert accumulated points to cash. In addition, there can be more restrictions if the balance in not paid in full or if you are late with the payment.
*Balance transfers: Some airline credit cards will allow balance transfer at a lower interest rate. This shifting of balances could help in increasing the flyer miles on the card. With balance transfer, you can achieve the double benefits of accumulating more flyer miles and debt consolidation.
*Other lucrative services: There are various other extra travel services offered by these airline credit cards. These include and are not restricted to discount on car rentals, travel insurance on purchases using your card, emergency cash withdrawal from the card while traveling and discounts in certain restaurants and shopping malls.
Airline Miles Credit Card Another variant to the airline credit card is the airline miles credit card. As the name indicates, these cards accumulate miles per dollar spent. There are varieties of airline miles credit card each offering different terms and conditions on the airline miles per dollar spent. Hence, you need to check for the minimum number of air miles necessary for a free trip and the duration of validity of the accumulated miles.
With increased competition, many airline miles credit cards offer attractive incentives on sign up. These include additional bonus on first purchase, 0% APR for certain introductory period and on balance transfers.
Though these are attractive offers, you need to consider the cost of maintaining these cards after the initial offer period. Airline credit cards, especially airlines miles credit cards are a good buy only for those who are regular flyers, as these cards tend to have high interest rate, annual fees, and other fees.
In conclusion, as with any other card, you can reap good benefits only if you take time to read and research the fine print with the various offers. Careful search should give cards that offer low interest rates, no annual fees, more miles on dollar spent, and freedom to travel on any airline with no blackout dates. The best airline credit card is one that gives good value for money, in terms of accumulated miles and rewards

How Domestic Airlines Work

The domestic airlines are one that gives service between various cities in same country and they are very good option for the business tourists who are on move, people who do not like driving long distances, and for the people who just want to get someplace faster.Few of these airlines ply international ways besides domestic routes. Few of these take in American Airlines, Delta Airlines, & Continental Airlines and you can find that they are having partnerships with some other international airlines. Example, international carrier may have some flights between Madrid & New York. However for people flying from Madrid to Denver, carriers' partner for instance Continental airlines can fly from the New York - Denver.Kind of airplane that domestic airlines make use of differs from one destination to other. For instance, thy may use bigger Boeing 747 for the international flights or else coast-to-coast flights, and from city to city, also they make use of more packed in airbus planes. Kind of service given on board will depend on length of flight and on airline. Few of them can charge for the drinks & snacks whereas some others will give them for no additional cost. The domestic lights generally have five people been seated for every row, & this permits for ease of the service. One of benefits of domestic flights is they usually have less passengers, and therefore good service is given to passengers & boarding as well as disembarking times are also reduced. And this is great for airlines, just because they are having faster turn over time, if they are turning over with the passengers. It's extremely easy to get domestic flight. Majority of the domestic airlines present service few times per week between numerous cities. All these airlines as well range from the discount airlines to the personal charter companies, which cater to rich & famous. Few of these private airlines are Southwest, TWA, Delta, Northwest, Alaska airlines to mention some. Lots of airlines have also partnered with some main international carriers to give cheaper choices for the travelers, and more travel locations for travelers to select from. All of these airlines have partnered with the hotel chains & car rental companies in order to offer sponsored travel packages to the travelers. These airlines are as well partnering up with the credit card companies. For example if you are having Delta Airlines credit, you may use it, & whenever you utilize it, you build up points, which you can cash in for plane ticket or for stay in the hotel.Lots of airlines as well offer reward systems commonly recognized as common flier miles. People who build up thousands of miles from domestic & international travel acquire perks like precedence check in, VIP handling or the option to upgrade from the coach to the first class. From here you can observe that airlines are now encouraging more people to fly, and with perks presented and also reasonable ticket costs they offer. When you do find an airline that you're a fan of, become loyal with this company and the perks become even greater! It all pays off in the long run.

eHow to sue an airline will depend highly on the nature of your complaint. Unless you have a serious injury or discrimination

How to sue an airline will depend highly on the nature of your complaint. Unless you have a serious injury or discrimination complaint, most airline claims are best handled in Small Claims Court. But before you file a complaint, I recommend fully understanding how the process works. You must not file a lawsuit against airlines in bankruptcy because they are under the protection of the court. There is a good chance that the airline will counter claim your suit and instead you will end up having to pay them for the nuisance you have caused them.Be careful of this double edged sword. Planning and preparing is half the battle when it comes to suing an airline. Make sure you are ready for it. If done properly then there is a very good chance that you will get the compensation you deserved from the airline that mistreated you. Suing an airline can be intimidating; however if done right with the legal information at hand then the case can be in your favor. Therefore, the first and the foremost that the family needs to do to sue an airline, is to educate itself on how to sue an airline. Increasing frustration among passengers is leading to more airline complaints and eventually to lawsuits mostly filed in Small Claims Courts. The small claims process is the best way (in my experience) to demand recourse from airlines that have mistreated you or caused you damage/injury. When you file in Small Claims Court, you can file the lawsuit by yourself without hiring an expensive attorney. In addition, the fees are very minimal. It won’t cost you more than $50 in most States. The process is simple and quick relative to other court systems in America. Most people are certain that they have airline passengers' rights, but are less certain about what those rights are, and what they include, and how to sue an airline. Learn how to sue an airline easily, get compensated and make your voice heard real loud. By knowing how to initiate the legal process, many consumers have found a resolution when suing an airline. Credit Card with Airline-What are the Benefits?

What are airline credit cards? Are they different from regular credit cards? Airline credit cards are similar to regular credit cards in the way that they process transactions and payments. Airline credit cards were designed for those who frequently make trips via airplane because of their work, and it is also known as frequent flyer cards. The benefits of getting a credit card with an airline differ in some ways with regular credit cards. Both credit cards offers reward bonuses that can be earned when the cards are used for purchases. Some airline credit cards reward consumers a point for every dollar charged that can equal to one air mile or travel mile. These purchases can be from grocery or gas purchases. The airline credit cards also offer consumers a choice of converting the points into cash or into air miles that they can convert into free airline tickets. Consumers also have an option to convert their rewards points into hotel accommodations, toys or other items that the credit card company lists as redeemable items. Another benefit of having an airline credit card is that it makes airline ticket purchasing easier. Though there are some airline credit cards that restrict the consumer to use the airline that the card carries, there are some airline credit cards that no longer restrict their consumers by having to use the airline of the airline credit card. With the rewards points or air miles earned from purchases, consumers can convert their points to purchase tickets of another airline. Consumers do need to check first if this is available in their airline credit card
